         About Sueyoshicho Church Closure until May 9 (Saturday) and Private Mass

The spread of the new coronavirus is continuing to spread around the world, and Japan is required to take even greater efforts to prevent the spread of infection. The Catholic Church is no exception.

In response to the growing urgency in the spread of infections at Tokyo metropolitan area, especially in Tokyo and Kanagawa Prefecture, and after careful deliberation with the four members of the Standing Committee of the Parish Council, the Parish Priest decided the following.

 

1. 1. From April 3^rd (Fri) to May 9^th (Sat), the Sueyoshicho Church and the Laity Hall will be locked and closed.

• For Palm Sunday, the Holy Week Triduum, the Easter Vigil, Easter Sunday and during the Octave Week, in accordance with Article 534, Paragraph 1 of the Canon Law, the Parish priest will celebrate the Holy Masses and Liturgy in Sueyoshicho Church without the physical presence of the faithful, Those are still “Missa pro populo”(Masses for the people). Please pray together at home at the same time.

 

1. As described in the attached document, dispensation from the duty to comply with Mass on the following days will be granted until the end of May based on Article 1245 of the Canon Law.

・April 11, 2020 (Saturday)          Easter Vigil @ 20: 00

・April 12, 2020 (Sunday)           Easter Sunday @ 11:30

・April 19, 2020 (Sunday)           Divine Mercy Sunday @ 11:30

・April 25, 2020 (Saturday)         3^rd Sunday of Easter @ 17:00

・ May 3, 2020 (Sunday)            4^th Sunday of Easter @ 11:30

 

For the above-mentioned Masses without Congregation, we are planning to live stream the liturgical celebration on the Internet if technical problems can be solved. We will notify you again later about the details.
